At Pine Green we have designed a carefully built curriculum, with appropriate coverage, content, structure and sequencing for our learners.
Our 'All-through' Curriculum operates on a common assessment framework in both Primary & Secondary that allows students to make continued and sustained progress not matter their starting point or Special Educational Needs.
You will have read our 'Who we are' page that details the range of pronounced 'Cognition & Learning', 'Communication & Interaction' difficulties and 'Social, Emotional & Mental Health' needs that many of our young people have. As such our common assessment framework, takes these needs into account and ensures that appropriate end points are set, not only for each Key Stage phase but for each Year Group and each Term. As part of our assessment framework, we have carefully produced 'flight plans' and 'assessment matrices' that chart expected student abilities at each of these points to ensure that students are making appropriate progress no matter their cognitive abilities.
To maximise this progress, we offer a 'CARING' all-through Curriculum that identifies subjects that commonly operate between Primary & Secondary. Regular assessment of these subjects, heavily focused on attainment in Core Subejcts ensures that where students fall behind, difficulties are quickly identified and responded to.
Particularly within our Secondary Phase, greater primacy is given to subjects, interventions and lessons that adequately prepare students for the next phase of their lives and we offer lessons in 'Preparation for Adulthood', 'Ethics', 'RSHE' alongside subjects that offer opportunities and engagement for our students.
A number of pathways and sequenced curricula have been designed by our expert teachers to ensure students know more, can do more and remember more. The following diagram provides an overview of the three pathways that we've established to ensure that all of our students, regardless of their cognitive abilities and/or barriers to learning, succeed.
